Where do toxins come from?

We often hear about toxins, but what exactly are the names of these toxins and where specifically do they come from?
Below are 12 of the most dangerous toxins that are worryingly consumed on a regular basis by most people, and how you can avoid them.

1.Pesticides

Pesticides are sprayed onto produce to kill insects or other organisms. The problem with this is that often a residue from the Pesticides is left behind and is therefore consumed by us via the food we eat. Overtime Pesticide exposure can cause a range of neurological health effects.

2. Processed food preservatives - BHA (Butylated Hydroxyanisole) & BHT (Butylated Hydroxytoluene)

These dangerous processed food preservatives are commonly found in butter, meats, chewing gum, snack foods, dehydrated potatoes and even beer. The International Agency for Research on Cancer has declared these processed food preservatives as carcinogens, which means they are a substance capable of causing cancer in living tissue. Many also claim that they affect male fertility and disrupting hormones.

3. Recombinant Bovine Growth Hormone (rBGH/rBST)

This is given to cows to increase milk production, and in turn increase the profits of the farmer. Unfortunately it is also increasing your risk of disease. rGBH produces elevated levels of insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) in dairy products. IGF-1 is a significant factor in cancers in the breast, prostate and colon.

SOLUTION: Take steps to detox the body. Ideally switch to a plant based milk such as almond, hazelnut or coconut milk. If you wish to continue drinking cows milk then choose organic or rBGH-free dairy products.

4. Brominated Vegetable Oil (BVO)

This toxic checmical is a patented flame retardant for plastics that has been banned in foods throughout Europe and in Japan. However, it can still be found in around 10% of  fruit flavored drinks and sodas in America. BVO has resulted in some soda-drinkers requiring medical attention for skin lesions, memory loss, and nerve problems related to bromine overexposure.
